The 13th Annual Scholarship Benefit
We asked for your participation in our 13th Annual Scholarship Benefit, and you far exceeded our expectations. We are beyond grateful for our students, graduates, faculty, staff, families, benefactors and volunteers who came together to help us make this evening so special. Thank you!
On March 7, more than 800 guests and community members joined to celebrate our students and graduates. Together that night — we raised over $1M from more than 530 gifts. In addition, we had 25 volunteers who generously helped us create such a wonderful experience for all our guests.
The memorable night featured a rockin’ performance by the De Marillac Academy choir and remarks from speakers including Miguel Molinero ’11, who talked about his experience and the support he received as a past student and graduate of De Marillac. “I’m a senior in University, and my middle school has been engaged with me every single year since I graduated in 2011. I don’t think that is something that is normally said by most people. The hours and the attention and care from De Marillac staff has given me these past eight years is immeasurable.”
Our theme for the school year is “The Work is Ours”. This theme represents the important role we each play in the De Marillac mission to break the cycle of poverty through education. Thank you to all who participated in the student art auction, fund-a-need, purchased our poetry anthology or served as a volunteer. You’ve been an embodiment of our school year theme—we’re thankful to you all!
