De Marillac Academy is proud to partner with The St. Vincent De Paul Society’s Riley Center for the 2017-18 school year.
The Riley Center Children’s Program is committed to ending the cycle of violence in families and communities by advocating for, educating and supporting children who experience domestic violence. Providing anti-bully and healthy relationships classes to a larger community, is essential to Riley’s mission to end violence. We provide anti-bully prevention to 4th and 5th grade students of De Marillac Academy. In addition, we provide healthy relationships classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students of De Marillac Academy to help students recognize what constitutes as healthy and unhealthy relationships. We aim to increase the amount of healthy relationships among elementary and middle school aged students in the home, school and community to create and foster safe and healthy social environments. Our overall goal for this project is to prevent violence at a young age by providing education in a classroom setting that helps students identify and respond to acts of violence and abuse in peer-to-peer relationships that will ultimately help students grow up to have healthy relationships free from abuse and violence.
