Bobbi Solano is from Newman, CA, a small farm town in the Central Valley where she was born and raised. She moved to the Bay Area in 2021 to pursue her MFA in Creative Writing from Saint Mary’s College of California in Moraga after having received her BA in English from CSU Stanislaus that spring. This past May she was a part of the SMC MFA’s 2023 graduating fiction cohort.

A new member of the DMA faculty, she is excited to work with Mr. Oertel and his 7th and 8th grade humanities students. She will also be helping out with the 8th grade ILT and religion courses. She looks forward to contributing her journalism experience to the middle schoolers as she leads the school newspaper. Bobbi is also thrilled to continue to develop alongside the students as a writer through the school’s partnership and work with 826 Valencia. She believes that writing is a great outlet and mode for processing all of life’s happenings and she hopes to share her knowledge and passion for the craft with the DMA community.

Having come to the city throughout her life to go to Giants games or see shows at the Orpheum and Golden Gate Theatres, she is excited to continue to get to know San Francisco.
