Annie first got to know DMA as an enrichment teacher during the 2020-21 school year. Inspired by the students' creativity and commitment to learning, she thought, "Wow, these students are really special. I want to spend more time learning from these young people and their families." So, in the spring of 2022, Annie formally joined the DMA team.
After earning her B.A in Theater Arts and English Literature at Dordt University, Annie moved to San Francisco to work in theater. She first worked at the American Conservatory Theater, then at another Tenderloin nonprofit where she launched and directed a youth theatre program, taught youth dance classes, and provided one-on-one mentoring for youth. She is currently earning her Master's degree in Transformative Education from Loyola Marymount University to better serve her students.
If she's not in Boeddeker Hall working on a DMA Drama Club production, she's likely teaching Pilates at various studios around the city, enjoying a bike ride through Golden Gate Park, or snuggled up at home with a good book.
