The Sylvia Chase Legacy Education Fund
In early 2019, the world lost an extraordinary woman, Sylvia Chase, one of America’s most admired and accomplished broadcast journalists. Once described as “The most trusted woman on television”, Sylvia’s reputation as a skilled journalist combined a relentless work ethic for finding the truth, while always retaining the values of fairness.
Sylvia’s other passion was education. She spent more than 10 years as a loyal and active member of the De Marillac Academy community, providing inspiration, curiosity and wisdom as a volunteer and mentor each week for our students and faculty.
While Sylvia achieved fame and recognition at the top of her profession with award-winning, crusading investigations, she remained a humble, principled and giving person. Sylvia would say simply: “I’m a storyteller”. With her typical humility, Sylvia always said that she got far more from De Marillac than she ever gave.
Inspired by Sylvia’s unyielding dedication to De Marillac Academy, we have established The Sylvia Chase Legacy Education Fund to support fellowship opportunities for our current and future students and graduates as they chase their dreams in the areas of communication/language arts, broadcast and journalism.
Please make a gift in honor of Sylvia to the Sylvia Chase Legacy Education Fund.
