"God asks that we never do good in one place to make ourselves look important in others but, rather, that we always regard Him directly, immediately, and without intermediary in all our actions and allow ourselves to be guided by His paternal hand."
- St. Vincent de Paul.
Dear De Marillac Academy Families, Students, and Friends,
September was filled with many good activities. Some highlights include the start of community partnerships for this year's program. We have Ms. Thida, our intern counselor, start counseling as well as a group of 8 tutors from USF's tutoring program, four other tutor volunteers at DMA, and our partnership with Build Group, who are working with 5th and 6th-grade students to create their project for this year's LEAP Sandcastle Classic. We also have partnerships with 826 Valencia, Alonzo King Lines, a French teacher from SHC, and more who come to work with DMA students.
I am excited about the upcoming activities happening in October. Girls volleyball is well underway. SHC volunteers will start this month, and the DMA Halloween Party will take place at the end of the month. This month and September also happen to be filled with surveys. Surveys such as Title I - Income Survey help bring funds DMA uses to provide counseling. Home Language Survey for new families helps find and support English Language needs. The upcoming climate, Springtide, and safety surveys will help give the leadership team feedback that guides our future steps.
October Lasallian/Vincentian theme is "Excellence." The school community will focus on the following ideas:
- Excellence through demonstrating integrity, compassion, and other SLEs
- Excellence through academics
- Excellence through effort and conduct
- Excellence through service to others
I look forward to October. Thank you for reading the newsletter. Live Jesus in Our Hearts, Forever!
Your Servant in Christ,
Jojo de Guzman

Family Meetings are designed for support families in their own growth and development. In years prior we have covered topics that address, child safety, mental health, child development and more. In collaboration with our Student, Family & Graduate Support Program, we want to continue to provide families with the space for them to grow in their own learning as the primary educators in their students lives.
Family meetings are mandatory for all grade levels, at least one member per household should be in attendance. If a family is unable to attend, it is the responsibility of the family to inform the Family Partnership Coordinator or SSC Coordinator 24 hours in advance. Failure to communicate accordantly will result in fees:

- 50.00 (Second Meeting Missed)
- 75.00 (Third Meeting Missed)
- Continuous missed meetings may result in dismissal from DMA
For the month of October families have the option to attend either of the two scheduled dates.
