"Do we serve God in Hope, looking to his promises, confiding in his love,
seeking his Kingdom, and leaving the rest to Him?"
- St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
Dear De Marillac Academy Families, Students, and Friends,
The February Lasallian/Vincentian core value is focused. This Vincentian core value seeks Vincentian schools to remain focused on its mission of service. From the Daughters, "It is our vision as Daughter of Charity Schools that our students become people of service who see the face of God in everyone, committed to living their Vincentian Catholic values." DMA is focused on its mission of "accompanying students as they develop a strong sense of self, purpose, and service to others."
In the wake of immigration challenges, DMA has sent representatives to community organization meetings and will share relevant resources and information with families when possible.
Thank you for reading the newsletter. Live Jesus in Our Hearts, Forever!
Your Servant in Christ,

Jojo de Guzman

Family Huddle from The Social Institute
This month, we are again sharing a Family Huddle from The Social Institute. Family Huddles reinforce important topics through casual conversation, and these topics align with our #WinAtSocial Lessons to extend the discussion beyond the classroom and encourage students to engage with their families. As we enter a new year, we are asking families to consider Building a Lasting, Positive Reputation on Social Media. This family huddle aligned to one of our 8th grade lessons helps us consider how our online posts and personas inform others' opinions of us and how that can impact our futures. Related articles include insightful pieces from psychologists, a Harvard professor, and even teens that weigh in on the importance of responsible online representation.

In February, the class will focus on discussions about life skills and self-exploration, as the students reflect on their personal and academic goals for high school. We will explore how students can continue to engage in their educational journey and their community to create positive change in their own lives and the lives of others. We have also been working with the 8th grade class to establish new goals for the remainder of the school year.

Family Meetings
Family Meetings are designed for support families in their own growth and development. In years prior we have covered topics that address, child safety, mental health, child development and more. In collaboration with our Student, Family & Graduate Support Program, we want to continue to provide families with the space for them to grow in their own learning as the primary educators in their students lives.
Family meetings are mandatory for all grade levels, at least one member per household should be in attendance. If a family is unable to attend, it is the responsibility of the family to inform the Family Partnership Coordinator or SSC Coordinator 24 hours in advance. Failure to communicate accordantly will result in fees:
- 25.00 (First Meeting Missed)
- 50.00 (Second Meeting Missed)
- 75.00 (Third Meeting Missed)
- Continuous missed meetings may result in dismissal from DMA
