"The star did not appear to the Magi in vain,
for this sight caused them to receive the grace of God,
and it made this day a day of salvation for them
because they showed themselves most faithful to the divine inspiration.
Are we attentive to the inspirations we receive from God?"
- St. John Baptist de la Salle (Med 96.1)
Dear De Marillac Academy Families, Students, and Friends,
Happy New Year! I hope the Christmas break is refreshing and relaxing, with quality time spent with family. I look forward to the student's return on Tuesday, January 7.
I want to thank all the families and community members who supported our numerous events in December. Thank you to those who attended Christmas Wonderland, brought food and supplies, and supported the class parties and field trips to celebrate the holidays.
January's Lasallian/Vincentian core value theme is Quality Education (L) and Collaborative (V). At DMA, quality education is collaborative in nature. It starts with a co-teaching model that incorporates a variety of student-facing support, with the goal of student success in the present and the future. DMA is blessed to have internal and community partners who work together to make student success a possibility. No one adult is solely responsible for the success of a student. That collaborative model is visible with our founding saints, St. Louise de Marillac and St. Vincent de Paul, who constantly wrote letters to each other as they worked through the challenges they faced in their mission to support people. They even wrote to each other as they lived across from each other!
As we head to the second half of the school year. I look forward to our continued school-family partnership. Families working with DMA team members have been a staple of its success. We partner by assuming good intentions, working through challenges as a team, and sharing our talents and gifts. Thank you for reading the newsletter. Live Jesus in Our Hearts, Forever!
Your Servant in Christ,

Jojo de Guzman

Family Huddle from The Social Institute
Each month, we'll be sharing a Family Huddle from The Social Institute. Family Huddles reinforce important topics through casual conversation, and these topics align with #WinAtSocial Lessons to extend the discussion beyond the classroom and encourage students to engage with their families. As we enter into our Christmas break, this month's Family Huddle is Inspiring Peers and Adults Around Us to Strike a Balance with Tech, so we can work toward limiting our screen time and increasing our family's quality time together. You'll need to login to access the link, and if you haven't registered yet, you can do so here with our unique school code: 3e359D88F331B4.
A reminder that Wednesday's dismissal is at 3:00 pm. Families that need services after 3:00 pm contact Boys and Girls Club or TASP.
